To My Scattered Thoughts Go...

Countdown to 50 —- AGAIN…

Well, let’s try this again. I already wrote this post and apparently, something happened and it didn’t save anything more than the title. Suffice it to say it was a BRILLIANT post, probably the best I had ever written, but you’ll just have to settle for this recreation.

So, yesterday marked 49 years of my stumbling around the earth and attempting to make my way. Not sure why some birthdays hit you more than others. For me 25 was the last “big” birthday, 40 didn’t phase me much but 25 meant I was a quarter of a century old. That seemed OLD then… now, I have placed ANOTHER quarter of a century between me and that landmark birthday (or almost, I shouldn’t get ahead of myself).

Yesterday started out fairly typical, up way too early, so I worked on my Bootstrap/Wordpress learning and working on the company website, fed the horses and continued. Kat got up and we couldn’t decide how to spend the day, anything I wanted she said, what I wanted was to keep messing around on the computer (I find it relaxing and although it’s work it sure doesn’t feel like it to me). Then Kat made us homemade crepes with fruit (fresh apples and pears) and bacon. We sat for a bit and decided it was a perfect day… to NAP. So we did, hopped up on the bed with the pups and napped for a bit. Then I got back up and went back to my learning.

When I went to stand a bit later I realized that BOTH puppies were sitting behind my chair. Catalina will come to sit with me, but if Kat is ANYWHERE around Blue is by her side so I was curious, where is Kat? Walking out into the kitchen I saw her in the arena riding Cisco. It made me feel good to see her out working with the horses (she rode Precious after that) and I found out that before all that there had been a much fairy! No mucking for my birthday, that’s always a good gift. I returned to my computer and a short time later we decided we needed to get ready for dinner.

I had picked Fujiyama for dinner (our favorite sushi place) and Kat, Brent, and I headed there. While ordering, Brent commented on the California roll and we jokingly told him that roll was for those who SAY they like sushi but don’t really as it has no fish in it. I thought for a moment we might get him to try the roll but no dice, chicken katsu it is for him. Kat and I settled on a few rolls and some saki bombs. With full bellies, we headed home and upon entering the house I realized that Funny Lady (Barbara Streisand) was on (we left the TV on to try to distract puppies from destruction (I’ll share those stories some other time), it worked last night but only time will tell). So we sat and watched the end of it (well, Kat sat and watched, I sat and nodded off). When it was over Kat wanted to watch Breakfast at Tiffany’s, I had never seen it so we started watching. Not at ALL what I had expected. At one point I asked Kat (she had seen it a few times already) if it would start making sense somewhere along the way and she assured me it would. Those old movies are sometimes great gems. The acting isn’t always the best, and the lines spoken by the characters seem really canned and unemotional but overall they are typically enjoying to watch. When the movie was over we headed off to bed.

So what’s the point of all of this? Well, it dawned on me that I am now less than 365 days from the half-century mark. Maybe it’s time I started to chronicle some of these things. Most days it will be boring and mundane, but on those occasional days when there is some little tidbit of fact I’d like to recall down the road, it would be good to be in the practice of already posting regularly to make sure I mark it down. General ramblings, more for me than anyone else, but I’ll post it in a public forum if you get some enjoyment out of what I post then that would be a plus. For now, I’ll just worry about marking down the things I want to be able to maybe look back at one day.
